Canterbury & surrounding areas - After School Club Leader / Science Presenter

We are currently in urgent need of enthusiastic and dynamic individuals to help deliver our after school clubs within Canterbury and the surrounding area. The ideal candidate must have a naturally bubbly, confident and smiling personality, enjoy performing, sharing knowledge and be good at communicating and relating to young children. We are looking for engaging, creative thinkers who thrive under pressure, and who can educate and entertain in equal measure. A background in science is not required – we will train you in everything you need to know – but an interest in the sciences and an inquisitive mind would be beneficial. Likewise, you do not need to have professional experience of working with young people, but you must be able to demonstrate that you have a passion for working with children. Job description ROLE: After School Club Leader - ‘Science Presenter’ LOCATION: Primary schools around Kent, with a focus on Canterbury and the surrounding area. HOURS: between 2.5 – 15hrs per week (weekday afternoons) DAYS: to suit you PAY: £33+ per club DURATION: ongoing Our Science Presenters are required to work within local primary schools to deliver our after school science clubs which run for one hour at a time, and accommodate up to 20 children between the ages of 5-11. The clubs cover a mixture of biology, physics and chemistry, and include demonstrations, discussion and group experiments. All kits, equipment and lesson plans are provided. Our science presenters work alone, and are therefore also responsible for the safety and welfare of the children who attend the clubs. Our clubs run on weekday afternoons during term time throughout the year. Working days are flexible, however we require at least one term’s notice (6 weeks) of any changes to availability. Including travel and preparation time, each club session lasts for a minimum of 2.5 hours (at least £33 per session). We also pay fuel costs. This job is available on a zero hours contract, and clubs are assigned on a term by term basis. We are currently fully booked for the next two terms, and require more staff to help us keep up with demand. There are also opportunities to get involved with additional school workshops, assemblies, birthday parties and other science events. Job Summary We are looking for candidates with a driving licence (and car) for regular delivery of our weekday after school club programmes in local schools after school hours. You will be doing simple science experiments that the children love for up to 20 children aged 5-12. Fizz Pop Science is a provider of after-school science clubs, workshops, holiday fun days, and birthday party fun for children aged 5 to 12 years in the UK. Fizz Pop Science West Midlands is currently recruiting enthusiastic dynamic individuals who are willing to deliver our After School Clubs in primary schools across the West Midlands. Responsibilities You will be traveling to different primary schools to deliver science after-school clubs. You will be responsible for the setup, delivery of the club (you will be trained on what you will be teaching), and dismissal of the children totaling 2 hours of being at the school each day along with the traveling to and from the school. As this is primary age science it is fun simple experiments, which children love. You may be expected to help prepare kits for other instructors, Help with sales and general office work.
