Did you know that we have just as much hair as monkeys, apes and chimpanzees (in fact any other furry primate). The hair that we have however is known as “vellus hair” or “peach fuzz” and is very short and also generally very light in colour.

Most of a humans thick hair is most often found on the tops of our heads and it sees quite unusual but it is how we have been put together and if we had a mound of hair on the side of a leg that would look weird wouldn’t it?

Scientific research shows that humans lost most of their hair through evolution around a million years ago.

One theory is that we lost most of our body hair so that we could prevent things like ticks, fleas and lice. Also that we have kept the hair on our heads because it looks pretty.

There is a very special kid of louse that can only live and breed in human clothing and DNA tests have concluded that it came from a louse that only lives on human hair. Now from what science research has turned up it looks like this happened around 42 to 72 thousand years ago.

What this tells us is that clothes were invented around the same period of time ago. So, that’s probably roughly when clothes first went on sale. There is also no evidence of any type of footwear louse so that is a relief 🙂

The people with the dummy tablets have in many cases got better quicker that those that had the real medication.

So how is that?

The mind has the ability to control the body and therefore when we are given something that makes us think we are going to get better the “mind over matter” subject raises it head.

Currently scientists are researching how the mind works and how we can utilise that to make things better for the human race as time develops.

The number of people injured by a comet on earth up until the end of 2012 could probably have been counted in single figures but 2013 saw that change dramatically.

On February 15th 2013 a comet that weighed over 12,000 tonnes which was over 20 metres wide and traveling at around 60 times more than the speed of sound hit the Russian city of Chelyabinsk.

It exploded into the city with the power of what could have been explained as an atomic bomb and caused devastation in its wake.

Such was the power of this explosion that thousands of windows blew out causing thousands of people to be hurt. Not only shattering windows but mass destruction caused havoc for many once the meteorite had finished its landing.

NASA and Russia have for a while been unable to land a probe on the moon in fact for over 4 decades now.

China this year have landed a rover on the surface of the moon and this shows that it is no longer a one horse race like it used to be.

This came soon after India launched its Mars Orbiter Mangalyaan. What this shows is that space exploration has moved on from the older days when the US and Russia or the West has the biggest monopoly.

Hopefully we will now see many other countries landing stuff in space that will give us a more in depth view of everything which could lead to many different things that would be massive in the science field.

Comet Ison brought much hype to the worlds media and many people globally were out looking at the sky’s waiting for some breathe taking scenes but and it is a big but – Comet Ison burnt out by the sun was what the worlds media referred to as a major flop.

Comet Ison we thought was something that the media moguls picked on from the beginning with some hope that it would be a major comet that would light up the night skies.

The day after though the media put the comet down as a failure and some even referred to it as a flop.

We think any comet is a great thing and the more we can learn about comets and how we can protect earth from anything that may cause damage to our great planet is wise.

So when do we expect the next big comet? Well we reckon that we can relax for around 23 years before the asteroid Apophis is here. Maybe the media will have a field day with that one as well.
