Ever wanted to play a game of spies or possibly something to do with a secret agency?

We know that every child has a run away imagination but with the right tools you can stimulate their energy and imagination even further.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED –

• Half a Lemon

• Water

• Spoon

• Bowl

• Cotton Bud

• White Plain Paper

• Lamp or Some Other Type Of Light Bulb

WHAT TO DO –

Now you have all of the ingredients you will be able to write invisibly for your co spies :).

Firstly you need to add the lemon juice and a teaspoon of water to a bowl and mix it together with the spoon.

Once you have done this you can then use the cotton bud to write any message on the plain paper using the mix of lemon juice and water. You now need to leave this to dry completely so that your message is completely invisible.

When someone wants to read the message all they need to do is hold the paper near to a lamp or bright light so that the paper heats up and shows the invisible message underneath.

Did you know that if you put an egg in water it will immediately sink to the bottom?

So how would you like to impress your friends by making an egg float in water?

It really is pretty simple and you will only need a few things which you should be able to find at home quite easily.

YOU WILL NEED –

1 Egg

1 Tall Glass

1 Teaspoon

6 Tablespoons of Salt

Tap Water

WHAT TO DO –

Firstly fill the glass with around half a glass full of normal tap water. Once you have done this you will need to take the 6 tablespoons of salt and put them into the glass. Mix the salt with the water for around 15-20 seconds by simply stirring it with the teaspoon. Once you have stirred the water you will need to carefully fill up the rest of the glass with more tap water but only to around 2 inches from the top. When doing this do it slowly as you will find that you will disturb the salt water beneath if it is not done properly.

Once you have filled the glass settle it down on a top somewhere gently. Then take the egg and place it in the glass gently using the spoon. Once you have removed the spoon the egg should be floating in the water.

The salt makes the water at the bottom half of the glass heavier and therefore gives you the ability to float an egg in water.

The record stands at somewhere like 29 feet but to beat it you will need to try it a fair few times (we know because we have). So how do you get an erupting coke and where do you do it?

FIRSTLY WHAT WILL YOU NEED –

A Pack of Mentos

A Bottle of Diet Coke

A Tube or Funnel

HOW DO YOU DO IT –

Now for the fun part. First off you will need to make sure that you are in a place where it does not matter how much mess you make as this will send diet coke everywhere. Place the bottle of diet coke in a bucket or something that will hold it in place as the last thing you will want is the whole thing flying across the garden and making even more mess.

Now all you need to do is put about half the pack of Mentos into the bottle and step back quickly. Now you can watch the whole bottle of coke erupt like a volcano.

BE WARNED – The whole contents of the bottle could be sprayed everywhere so make sure you get a responsible adult’s permission first.

Using a simple plastic container you could amaze your friends by making and showing them a volcano that you have created.

This one is quite messy so it is wise to either do it outside or make sure you put lots of newspaper down on the floor or table first.

Now to do this you will only need a few basic ingredients many of which should already be available to you at home. If not the ingredients will be sold in any supermarket and shouldn’t cost you too much.

YOU WILL NEED –

Baking Soda (not baking powder)

Vinegar

Plenty of Cloths or Paper Towels

A Good Sized Plastic Container

WHAT TO DO –

We suggest placing the baking soda in the plastic container so that it is around a third full. Then all you need to do is pour in the vinegar and watch what happens. You should have an array of foam oozing over the sides of your plastic container in literally seconds.

To make it even more fun you could look at building a volcano that has a waterproof inside so that it looks even more fantastic. This could make for a very creative afternoon and could result in some great results from your friends faces.

What person would not want to see the beauty of a rainbow in close proximity. Well now you can make your own rainbows at home.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED –

• A Glass of Water (2/3rds full)
• Some White Plain Paper
• Some Sunny Rays

This experiment is really simple. All you need to do is take the glass of water and paper to a place where there is plenty of sunlight. Then all you need to do is hold the glass above the paper and watch the sun produce different colours and a rainbow will appear on the white paper. Try holding it at different levels and see if that makes any differences.

Get even better at it and you could be the envy of your friends at school when you show the teacher how to make a rainbow too.

Now this one sounds like fun doesn’t it? Making fake snot could make you the envy of all of your fellow pupils, friends or even family members. It really is quite easy as well as disgustingly gross. Imagine your friends learning how to make snot with you and how much fun you could have doing it. Well below we tell you exactly what you need and how to make it.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED –

A Cup

Boiling Water (take extreme care with this)

Corn Syrup

Gelatin

A Fork and

A Teaspoon.

WHAT TO DO –

Now that you have your ingredients the process really is quite simply. Start by filling the cup half way with boiling water. Now add 3 teaspoons of the gelatin to the boiling water. Now you will need to let the gelatin soften before you start to stir it with a fork. You now need to take the corn syrup and add about a quarter of a cups worth. Now stir the mixture with your fork again and you will see that some fairly long strands have started to form giving you your snot. As the mixture cools down you can also add small amounts of water and stir to make the snot less dense and more like real bogeys.

Show that to your friends and you will bring fun to the party every time.

HERE’S WHAT YOU NEED –

1 x Lemon

Drinking Water (still mineral water is nice)

A Drinking Glass

1 x Teaspoon of Baking Soda (not powder)

Some Sugar

HERE’S WHAT YOU DO –

Firstly you will need to squeeze all of the juice out of the lemon into the glass. Once you have done this you will need to add water to the same amount of how much lemon juice you have. Now you will need to put the teaspoon of baking soda into the glass and mix it well. Once you have done this you will need to add a little sugar and can add more if you have a sweeter tooth. Once this is complete (you could do it in a jug too) it is wise to put it in the fridge and once it is cooled add ice cubes to make it a great tasting drink for a hot summers day.

This is great tasting home made lemonade that will have the whole family and all of your friends wanting more (if they like lemonade).
